Actor Devin Ratray, famed for his role as Buzz McCallister in the classic movie Home Alone, has been arrested amid allegations of domestic abuse.
Ratray, 44, was taken into custody by police officers in Oklahoma City on Wednesday, one day after a warrant for his arrest had been issued in connection with the alleged incident, said to have taken place earlier this month, according to People.
Per the publication, the actor has been charged with one count of domestic assault and battery by strangulation and another count of domestic assault and battery. His bond was set at $25,000.
The Oklahoma City Police Department confirmed to Fox News that the actor « turned himself in and was processed through and bonded out. »
According to local NBC affiliate KFOR-TV, Ratray had traveled to Oklahoma City to appear as a celebrity guest at the annual Pop Christmas Con, which ran between December 4 and 5.
Citing accessed documents, KFOR-TV reported that the woman was identified as Ratray’s girlfriend, who is said to have told police that she got into an argument with the actor, and subsequently left him to return to their hotel room.
According to the outlet, Ratray followed her back to the hotel, where the alleged physical altercation is reported to have occurred.
« [The] victim had trouble breathing while she was being strangled and while the defendant’s hand was over her mouth, » the news station quoted a probable cause affidavit as stating.
According to KFOR-TV, the alleged victim « suffered multiple injuries, including bruising under her left eye, marks under her right eye, marks above the left side of her upper lip, a bruise on her chest and a sore right arm. »
TMZ quoted a spokesperson for Ratray as saying that the two only got into a verbal argument that didn’t become physical.
Newsweek has contacted representatives of Ratray, the Oklahoma City Police Department and the Oklahoma County District Attorney’s Office for comment.
Ratray shot to fame back in 1990, when he played the older brother of Macaulay Culkin’s Kevin McCallister in the hit comedy Home Alone. He recently reprised his role in the new Disney+ movie Home Sweet Home Alone.
Earlier this month, Ratray told People that a possible Home Alone reunion was in the works with some members of the original cast.
« This film has become legacy and has affected families now for more than one generation, » Ratray told the publication. « Parents are showing children, children are showing grandchildren something that I was a part of. I’ve come to realize that this movie, it’s bigger than me. »
